Yes I got the second, its a card and it almost got thrown away because it looked like a credit card offer. Im locked up abroad because of covid and cant do anything about it but though I have abundant need for money, im thinking it should go to 2A lawsuits or even, strangely, given to the govt to pay down the debt. I dont know what anyone was thinking, these payments should never have been made. All effort and time should have gone to ending the virus fast and letting us get back to work. I dont need stinking $600, i need to be working because everything is being lost :(

Let me get this straight. We had the following:
CARES Act in March 2020, $2.2 trillion
COVID Stimulus in Dec 2020, $900 billion
Biden COVID bill in Feb 2021, $1.9 trillion

We're sitting at $5 trillion now, with plans for another bill already being floated. To put into perspective, our entire US budget for FY20 was $4.79 trillion.
$13,513.51 per person and we're not done yet.

And I'm still at "Payment Status #2 - Not Available"

Congress had to approve it or it wouldn't have happened. I wonder where all the $$$ is going this time?
Funny how we don't hear about that like the last stimulus package!!

Did you contact IRS about #2?

The numbers don't really matter at this point. We're far past the point of ever being able to pay off our national debt, especially since we've abandoned most of our manufacturing industry.

Job quality in this country stinks. You can't raise tax revenue with low paying jobs.

I work at a newer power plant for a very large power company. Everyone that works here makes $90,000-145,000 but somehow some people I work with still qualified for the full amount for at least some of the packages. Makes me angry that people who are fortunate enough to be not be affected financially still got money. There are lots of people out there that could use this money alot more than the people I work with. The government should make sure the money ends up where it is needed and not wasted on those who are doing just fine. I dont blame people for taking it and using it. I would have too if I qualified but someone has to pay for this debt that the federal reserve just keeps adding to. And I am sure alot of this money is being borrowed from China

Tax the upper 1% and the largest tax free corporations the way they should be and it would be paid for.

What really sucks is our government leaders leading Americans on, by giving a little bit of cash, while stealing 4 or 5 times that to put towards their personal agenda. Seems they do not want to talk about their thievery practices. Like last time giving Americans $600.00 while it really cost them $2700.00. Our congress people think we are morons and cannot count. We all should be asking them where in the hell did the other $2100.00 per person go? It is going to get a lot worse because they just print more to steal more..fox in charge of the hen house, so sad...

I respectfully disagree. There are many high paying trade jobs available right now, and no one to fill them. And as far as low paying jobs, there will always be lower paying jobs because of skills. Delivering a pizza wage will always be lower than a lineman working on replacing a transformer. Also, if you increase the minimum wage (low paying jobs), you increase the cost of living for everyone.
Waste is more of a problem. Put a housewife that has had to budget all her life in charge and watch what happens :)

Spend that money if you get it!

Let’s not forget their benefits! Full pension, medical, dental, college education for their family etc

See my previous post. These combined COVID related stimulus bills cost each person $13,500.

I agree completely. Wages at the bottom still to low. Cost of living increases would be minimal because businesses have to compete with each other. A democracy is intended to benefit the masses.

Which is incentive to move out of that bracket as quickly as possible.
Hard work, acceptance of more responsibility, increased education and training.
I sure didn't like being near the bottom.

Prices go up across the board to pay the new wage.

Businesses do not pay wages or Taxes, their customer do........... ALL costs of doing business (Wages Taxes etc) are averaged into the cost of the goods or services sold.

The poverty level is reflected by the Cost of living. Raise Minimum wage and the cost of living increases across the board.. And along with it the poverty level also rises to meet it.. Not only have those earning minimum wage accomplished nothing, as they are still living at or below the level of poverty, but the rest of us are now forced to live closer to the poverty line than we had been before.

Want a raise?? Earn it.. Go to school, learn a skill that is in demand.... It doesn't have to be a college, it can be a trade school... There are a "LOT" of well paying jobs that do not require college degrees.

We tried raising taxes on corporations, and corporations moved to other countries that taxed less and had cheaper wages. Once we lowered corporate taxes, lots of corporations and jobs moved back. If you want less of something, tax it. If you want more, tax less. If the dollar were not the world's reserve currency, we'd be bankrupt now. I was worried about the deficit back in the 80's, then Reagan came along and we grew the economy enough to have a surplus during the Clinton years. Growing the economy is the solution, but our government adds laws and regulations that slow the economy. The 1% already pay 37% of all taxes collected. Those guys are the ones that create the jobs. Tax them more, and we'll get less jobs, not more.
