If I do my part, my 1984 TC Hawken .50 from a kit shooting 70 grains by volume with an .018 patch and TOTW Mink Oil, is a 2 moa at 50 yards, all day long. With tang mounted TC peep…My eyes are no longer 1 moa at 50!

If I do my part (I regularly shoot 600-700 yds with my csntrrfires)...

I've only been back into black powder about a year. My CVA Trapper gets 1" with PRB or 1.25" with sabot, my Bobcat is 1 hole with PRB or .5" with sabot, Buckstalker is 1 hole at 100 with borelocks. All at 100 yds.

I haven't shot my Jukar 45 yet (waiting on my mold). That should be remedied tomorrow or Monday.

I spent more time with the inline because that was my main hunting rifle this year. I took 2 does and a buck with it. The Bobcat and Trapper each took a buck. Gonna spend this summer getting them shooting right!

Lyman 57SML peep sight. .040 fiber optic front green sight.
.502 Bullshop 460 gr NEX conical. 85 grains 2F Swiss with a .54 cal wool wad.

First pic is 150 yd target, Second pic is 200 yd target. I believe it shoots elk vitals MOA.

I appreciate the perfection or nearly so you fellows achieve with your guns. I wish I could say the same but I cant. Generally if I can shoot a 1" group at 100 yards for hunting Im happy with that. Back in the day I used to kill a lot of groundhogs and did better but the target was smaller. Now I dont believe in the "if I can hit a pie plate theory" but a 1" group has served me well over the years. (67 of them) Rarely do I get a bench to shoot from when deer hunting. (thats changed in the last few years) Mostly its leaning against a tree or shooting off of a knee. Those bullets dont get placed precisely but Ive never had a deer jump up and reprimand me for not hitting the hair I was shooting at.

Sweet rifle. My Rene is becoming(slowly) black and silver. Ive got the GM .45lrh blued barrel, sst thimbles and trigger guard and a silver scope base. Still trying to find a reasonably affordable sst lock (cougar or elite or possibly the greyhawk) to finish it off. Then it will get a laminate stock.

I remember seeing a picture of your laminate stock a while back. I was skeptical hearing about it until I saw the pictures. It is a thing of beauty.

If I do my part, my GRRW kit 54cal 1:66”twist shooting a .535 round ball atop a wonderwad and 150 grs of 2f Goex is a 2moa gun all day…limited by the sights it’s 4” to 6” at 150yds-200yds…150 is my max range with roundballs.982344E3-1E07-4386-BAE0-D4516BFB635A.jpegI have a couple of 1st generation Optimas in 45 cal that shoot <moa with 110grs of T7 and Dead Center 240gr from Pecision Bullets…
My 2 obsolete Cva Kodiaks Pro magnum 45cal do just as well as the old Optimas. Killed a 340 bull elk with this bullet …

No need for benchrest accuracy if you’re actually hunting and close the range to 200yds or less.

Nice shooting with the big bore.

Best so far for me - 3 shots at 75 yards, those are 1” squares on the target. 1x sig red dot as we are not allowed magnification during muzzy season here. 45 cal 300 grain harvester PT gold, 2 - 50 gr imr white hots, T7 209, harvester crush rib sabot out of a CVA Optima v2 50 cal

I posted in post #4 about my Accura V2 with the sabot loads accuracy. Here’s the target pics from 100yds, 150yds & 200yds & a shot -dead center of the new 8” steel gong Anomyouscowherd brought to my range. I got to be the first to put a 220gr dead center bullet right in the dead center of it at 200yds.
Pic 1 is 3 shots.
Pic 2 you can see a low hit, I used the 100yd hold, thats my bullet drop.
I used my holdovers to adj next shot, then put 1 perfect bullseye at 150yds. Pic 3 is 200yds.
The chrony numbers are from a different time at my bench ( a month ago maybe ) I shot a 3 shot string ( not for grouping, velocity confirmation only ) .
My first shot at 200yds was the high right one, then I put 2 touching after that.
You can see the hit in the center of the gong from the .40 bullet. It hit hard.

I regularly get a single hole at 100yds with my CVA Optima. Of course, it's anyones guess as to where the second shot goes. All kidding aside, I get around 1-1/4" on average, sometimes better, sometimes worse but well in within my tolerences for deer hunting.

Tc thunderhawk carbine in bell and Carlson stock. Ragged hole at 100. 80-100 gr. Of blackpowder with a 200-240 xtp in a tc break a way sabot.

I'm having trouble with my 50s, but the 45 that has a pitted bore does pretty good. As soon as I get home, I'll start finding out.
