The Walmart stores in my area had # 11 caps and 209 primers in stock back in August. Between 3 stores, I stocked up.
I doubt you'll find anything today as I'm sure they sold out.

All the wally worlds around here stopped carrying ML stuff. Sheilds had them early fall for 10$ a tin. I stocked up. Have not checked to see if they have any back in stock.I have had caps in a capper that my dad use to use for 15 years that work? i dont think there is a shelf life

I know. Becasue of Muzzloader Season, the world was full of them. Now they disappeared into the Twighlight Zone.

Here is a company which sells kits to make your own Percussion Caps. ( They say, each bag can make 2,000 caps and each Each bag is $20. They also have dies to cut tin cans (soda/beer cans) to make #10 & #11 primers. They cost $50 ea.
$20 (compound) + $50 (#11 or #10 die) + $7(shipping)= $77.
77 divided by 2000 (if you really get that many per bag) = .0385 or roughly rounded up, you get .04 for each cap. ($4 per 100) That is, if what they say of making 2,000 caps is correct.

This isn't a bad idea for when things get really tight with caps.

here in ny , cant find one 209, 0r # 10, or #11..... all the on line out, and our wally world doesn't carry them

Y'all gunna hate me! I've got some I picked up sometime during covid. I purchased 1000 online. As long a Mi. keeps the current stright wall regs I'll probably never use them up. I converted one of my scout nipples to 209 primers using a David Pederdol conversion I purchased from Cabelas. I use one on my New Englander also. It is a non saftey conversion so I use plastic caps and rest the hammer on them.

What is the shelf life of a percussion cap?
Not sure? I had trouble with older reloaded centerfires this year, buddy had a click... nothing... on new HRNDY .44 mags.. I found some old tins of cci 11's and rem 10's in my parents garage that are at least 25 years old and they fired? I'm keeping my Flinter just so my great grandchildren have the ability to cuss on a rainy day.

It's been hard to find any caps for the last few years! It took me almost 6 months to find some blackhorn and 209 primers last year! That's because I wouldn't pay out the @$$ for any of it! Finally found some blackhorn in the 10oz jug for $52 and some Winchester W209 primers for $10! I bought 3 jugs of blackhorn and 3 packs of primers! I kept 2 jugs of blackhorn for myself and 1 went to my buddy! My brother found me some CCI 209M primers for $15 earlier this year! I won't be gouged for the supplies! It's Wrong!

Nothing to hate there. I have a Hawken in the house that has a 209 style nipple on it. But even 209's are not all that easy to find nowadays. If I could find enough of 209's I would put a 209 nipple on my New Englander.

I have not bought new caps since 2019 but I do find quite a few at estate auctions in boxes of miscellaneous items. Most recently I found 900 German made caps with the seal still around the tin. I shoot all of the old caps I find and have all of the newer stuff Vac sealed in packages to protect from Humidity. I have also been buying any older #10 caps that I find at these auctions and turned down a standard nipple to fit them and fire them on my Seneca rifle. I have around 6,000 caps of various ages and makes some from the 70s and 80s and cannot remember the last time I had a cap failure.
