anyone use a boat tail bullet. Example barns spitfire with harvester boat tail sabot. Advantage or not worth it?

That’s what I thought I tried last year and had very poor results

Shot thousands of them through the years (Barnes TMZ), but at muzzleloader velocities they're no different than a flat base.
I shot them because the source I had at the time priced them so I couldn't say no.

I have been told that within 500 yards, there is no difference between boatail and flat base. While this is for centerfire, I don't think there will be any difference in muzzleloaders.

Sounded like good advise as to me, it would probably only increase the BC a slightly. Hard to measure the impact change on a target until the distance gets out there..
Don’t think MV would really matter as long as one could see 2 distinct groups.

Nikon Spot On app
Barnes 250 grain TMZ, boat tail, at 2000fps zeroed for 100yds, drop at 200yds = 11.67 inches
Barnes 250 grain TEZ ,flat base, at 2000fps zeroed for 100yds, drop at 200yds = 12.10 inches

not much difference, I've shot both but usually use the TEZ flat base unless the rifle tells me it likes the boat tail better
