Fantastic! Wife just planted her seedlings. She looked at those light setups but decided against it...she said she'd end up planting more than she could use/handle.

I put my plants outside the last week of May, planted some seed outside a month before that, it’s all coming along pretty well here in Vermont.

I just clipped the scapes off my garlic this morning. In spite of the crappy cold spring things are coming along now. I see the bush beans have flower buds his morning and my buttercup squash is liking the weather now too, starting to get some runners going. Beets, carrots, chard and leaf lettuce are going great guns right now.

Did you use row covers when you first planted in the ground? Just amazed how much further along yours are and its supposed to be colder up there!
Thanks
John

No, I don’t have any. I have thought about getting some so I can plant earlier but I could never figure out what to get. Since everything is in boxes it seems like it’d be pretty easy to put hoops over them.

When I plant my tomatoes and peppers I make the hole pretty big and put in a little fertilizer, a little bone meal and a couple handfuls of compost or composted cow manure. If my plants seem yellow I sprinkle a few tablespoons of epsom salt around them.

Frost? Only frost here in Missouri is on a glass mug - welcome after tilling our garden in "feels like 103 degrees". Spring has sprung, Fall has fell. Summer's here and it's hot ....as usual. Frost? Not 'til deer season.
