Hey y'all, My neighbor and I went to the range yesterday to make sure we are on the money for this coming ML season in Texas. After our shooting session he showed me the bottom of his new Vortex Crossfire scope mounted on a CVA Wolf which had a powder burn spot right above the breech plug. I have never had this issue with any of my ML's. He was using 777 primers.
Thoughts?

Not unusual. He needs to, at minimum, put an oring in the primer pocket.

100 for $5.05. 20 to 40 shots before it needs replacing.
Or wrap the scope in something.

Or try regular shotshell primers... Winchester primers or CCI primers, both designed as reloading primers. Winchesters are the longest on average of the two. Might stop the problem too..
