so, what's the deal... when i got my ML cert here i had to take a class, and the instructor was pretty clear that FFg and FFFg had specific applications and FFg was for .50 and above, while FFFg was for smaller calibers.
i have read a few posts where folks were using FFFg in larger bores.
what is the advantage? what are the concerns? differences? :?:

While 3fg powder was developed for smaller cal. so you could get higher vol. with less powder you can use it in rifles as long as you decrease the amount of powder used . say you normally use 100gr of 2fg i would reduce the 3fg by 10 to 15% so in the 3fg I would use only 85gr.

I have shot both 2f & 3fg and found that I got better accur. out of the 2fg
but all guns are differant .

Yes the traditional train of thought is 2f powder for .50 caliber and bigger and 3f powder for .45 caliber and smaller. The trouble is many people found that by going to a faster powder, they can get better velocity out of less powder. I shoot 3f powder in a lot of .50 & .54 caliber rifles. When I shoot conicals, I almost always shoot 3f powder.

All you can do it try different powders and see what works for you.
