My favorite rifle.
It is a .54 Hawken copy made by Loren "Doc" Brown.
36 inch Orion barrel.
Walnut stock made from a local tree that was struck by lighting.
Davis lock
My load is 80 grain of 2F , .15 patch and a .530 round ball.

I have used this rifle on everything from that pesky old expended shotgun shell , to formal match shooting.
As for hunting it has gotten grouse , deer , bear and elk.
This is the rifle I shoot the most and one that I know inside and out.
Thanks for looking!
Andy

Thanks Smokin' Joe!
I hope everyone has a rifle that is as near and dear to their heart as this one is to mine.

I'm glad I'm a lefty AndyinEverson...otherwise I'd be jealous.
Nice smoker.
Are you planning on putting that smoker in action this year hunting :?:

Thank You Marty!
Yep , we go hunting every year... Grouse , Deer , Bear , Elk .
She gets used in shooting matches year 'around as well.

Hi Andy
From a fellow Evergreen State boy. I was born in Bellingham not to far from you. Nice rifle. Hawkens are my favorite. Yours is really nice. I have 2 from Green River Rifle Works that are my favs. One is a 58 and the other is a 50. I also have a TC Hawken in 58 caliber that I like real well. Al

Howdy Al!
Small world ... sounds like you have some nice Hawken Rifle copies as well.. Be neat to see 'em.
Andy

The finish on that Hawken is very tasteful. Beautiful rifle.
Just eyeballing it, the drop is what fits me the best.

I would say "enjoy," but it seems that you already do.
Ron

Thanks Ron!
The finish is lots and lots of Boiled Lin-seed oil and lots and lots of rubbing.
The browning came from using "Homer Dangler's" Browning ... Not sure if this product is still available.
And yep how the gun fits makes all the difference in the world , in how it shoots and feels.
This rifle fits me to a "T".

Sadly Orion Barrels are no longer in business.
My barrel has a 1-72 twist and 1 inch wide at the muzzle.

No problem. ;)  I only wanted to see what the crown on the Orion muzzle looked like from Doc.
Have a great time at the shoot-out. :)
