My gun is on order so I haven't loaded it yet, but I've heard from some people that it is very hard to load the sabot into the barrel. Is there a trick wit a different type of ram rod or something? I've also read where some people have two different rods whether or not they are hunting or range shooting.

I use a regular ramrod in the field and a Hickory rod that's been soaked in motor oil at the range. Usually in the field it's one shot one kill so I don't think it's any big deal. The hickory rod was the idea of an old gun smith / black powder fanatic. Has work for the crew over the years of target shooting.
