I read all this. Agree with some ideas, not so much
with others. I can remember things done 20 yrs ago
like paying to put an NMLRA pamphlet in the box of every NEW manufactered muzzle loader made.
Results? Nearly none. In my mind Friendship has a
finite following. Nearly impossible to lure "new" participation. Activities that survive generally are
new things that the bi annual attendies take an
interest in. This becomes more difficult as new
matches and aggs are added every year with
competitor participation dwindling. Fired my first
match there in 1972 as a youngster. Still like to participate as time allows. Not so much worried
where I finish. Maybe someday the competitive
juices in my past will kick in but for now I just
enjoy being there.
