I shoot the same sabots and bullets through my .50cal Optima V2 Rifle and Optima Pistol.
It seems they both shoot the 250 and 300gr Barnes Expander (.45cal bullet) pretty well.
I shot the Expanders with the Harvester crush rib sabots and they practically fell down the barrels. Very little pressure needed to be added to the weight of the ramrod to slide them down. Accuracy at 100yd was ok with the rifle.
About 3-4” groups.
A slightly tighter, but comfortable sabot has resulted in 2” groups at 100yd with the rifle, and I’m just fine hunting with that.
I can’t tell the difference with the pistol. At 50yd, I’m shooting 5-shot groups all within a 6” circle.
I usually hunt thick woods, and 100 yards is about as far as I expect to shoot with the rifle.
Only difference I can tell with the two weights is that out of the rifle, the 250gr groups about an inch left of the 300gr at 100yd.
I only practice with the pistol at 50yd and less.
Sorry for being so wordy, haha.

knurl those bullets a bit, between a couple files, before putting them into the sabot, and i bet your group tightens up even more without changing your POI.

I shot a 340ish bull elk in late October with a 40 cal 240 gr “Precision Bullets“ pointed plastic tipped all lead bullet in a sabot atop 110grs of 777 out of a 45 cal 1st generation CVAOptima at 83 yds…perfect expansion one shot kill, tipped over within 30 yds…Groups around 2” at 100 yds…open sights in Nevada.

Currently using the 250 gr Barnes Expander MZ in a HPH/24 sabot. Want to try the 300 grain version when I find some.

i use the 250 grain SST bullet in the black crush rib sabot. It brings home the venison and pork chops.
