How much loose FF 777 does it take to equal 100 grains in standard 777 pellets? (ie. two 50 grain pellets)

Seems I saw a ratio posted somewhere but can't find it just now.

Thanks

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but 100gr. 777 is 100gr. whether it's pellets or loose. Now there is a 15% differents in 777 to pyrodex.

i wanna say that 80grains loose is equal to 100grain pellets.(can't find where i saw it) might have something to do with whatever type of adhesive they use to hold the powder in the pellet form takes up space as well. :?

100 grain of T7 pellets - the older standard pellets is approximately equal to 100 grains of real black powder or 100 grains of Pryo...

100 grains of loose T7-2f is, according to Hodgdon 15% greater than 100 grains of real BP or Pyro. I believe that estimate is on the high side probably more like 10% unless you are talking about loose T7-3f...

Recently, Hodgdon, has released a new more powerful T7 Magnum Pellet which is closer 60 grains of real BP.

I think what sabotloader is saying is that 85gr. of 777 2f (loose) is equal to a two pellet 777 orginal load (100gr.). At least that is what I was always told.

Like he said, the new 777 magnum pellets are hotter and closer to 60gr. of loose 777 2f each.

A 100 grain 777 pellet is equal to 100 grains by volume of black powder. Since 777 loose is measured by volume to equal black powder's volume, then 100 grains loose would equal a 100 grain 777 pellet. This does not take into account the new Magnum 777 pellets which do not equal 100 grains any more.

A 100 grain 777 pellet is equal to 100 grains by volume of black powder.
Two 50 grain pellets are equal to 100 grains of BP by volume - correct....

Since 777 loose is measured by volume to equal black powder's volume, then 100 grains loose would equal a 100 grain 777 pellet.

100 grain of T7 loose by volume is not equal to 100 grains of loose BP by volume nor is it equal to two 50 grain T7 standard pellets.. but I really can not tel what you are saying in the second quote...

If T7 loose is = 115% of Black Powder or Pyrodex(loose or pellet) AND T7 Pellets.
Then, x gr of T7 = y gr of desired BP equivalent / 1.15
Therefore, if you desire 100 gr equivalent of BP, then
x gr of T7 = 100gr of BP / 1.15,
==> 86.9gr of T7 = 100 gr of BP

OR

If T7 loose is = 110% of BR,
then x gr T7 = 100 gr of BP / 1.10
==> 90.9gr T7 = 100gr of BP

ASSUMING T7 loose = 115% energy of BP then calculating the maximum T7 loose equivalent to 150gr BP follows:
x gr T7 = 150gr BP / 1.15
130gr T7 = 150gr of BP

Hope this helps.

Regardless of what your poison is just remember this:

Don't load more that 3 pellets....

don/t go over 150 gr. loose black pwder or Pyrodex

don't go over 130 gr. 777

So if someone is shooting 2 50 gr pellets and I am shooting 85 gr of loose 2f 777, we should have about the same fps, right?

300 grain hornady sst + 100 gr. 777 ffg = muzzle velocity 1778 f.p.s.

300 grain hornady sst + 100 gr. 777 fffg = muzzle velocity 1847 f.p.s.

300 grain hornady sst + two 50 gr. 777 pellets = muzzle velocity 1680 f.p.s.

Based on the above I would think that about 91 grains of fffg and 95 grains of ffg would equal two 50 grain 777 pellets.

The 50 grain triple 7 pellet is NOT 50 grains in volume or weight.It is merely equivilant to 50 grains in volume of BP! I believe it says that on the box.Maybe they should stop calling it 50 grains of anything :)

That is exactally Right ea. pellet is equiv. to 42.5 gr of loose By Volume Except the Magnum pellets they run about 60gr per pellet.
