Other than the massive illumination/parallax knob this Meopta has a ton of features for $390. Lighter than a Optika6 too.

  • Zero-reset exposed turrets with locking
  • Side focus from 10 yds to infinity
  • Ring mounts (height 38,1 mm) included
  • 1/10 MRAD adjustments
  • Eye Relief: 100mm/3.9"
I just checked that scope out, it really does bring a lot to the table for the price. I've never looked at Meopta before, boy was I missing out. I'm not overlooking them any longer.

I got the Meopta Opticka5 2-10x42 PA Z-Plus reticle today. I put it on my trigger sticks & took a good look through it & adjusted the parallax & power levels. The first thing I noticed is when I took it out of the box, was it feels heavy. I guess I should have paid more attn to what this thing weighs first. Its great glass, love the reticle, 55.7' FOV- awesome!~ 3.6" eye relief - really nice, using the BAC technique is good with it. The weight is the only thing that I could honestly point out that wasn't positive about it. It says that its 20.8oz, but I'd bet the farm that it weighs 3lbs. Maybe its just me???

Athlon just released a new line called Heras? I think i saw a 2-10x42. They looked a lot like a Helos but in a 1" tube and geared towards hunting more than the Helios.

Nope its a 2-12. Not a fan a Chicom glass but Athlon makes some ok stuff. Cameraland had these listed for quite a bit less than MSRP.

Brownells has a sale on these for about $300. Made in Japan but not one of my favorites. Basically the same scope as the Japanese made Crimson Trace (discontinued) and the Japanese made Riton 1-6x24

Anyone on the fence about trying an Arken can get the new EPL for about $300 until July 4th

This scope is super tempting

I've never even heard of Arken optics before.
I've bought 2 scopes from Cameraland now. Both were killer deals & great service.
Have you looked Athlon Helos BRT Gen2 2-12x42 FFP IRMOA scopes? I'm impressed as can be with the scope, especially for 430.00 TMD. I'd have had no complaints if I'd had to pay 530.00 which is the normal price. I can see owning more than one of these.

The Arken EPL 4-16x44 faired better in the same test. Not in the same league as SWFA or Trijicon but its also nowhere near the cost of the Trijicon and way more features than the fixed power SWFA SS Classic line.

The SWFA HD models are made by LOW. The Classic SS are made by Kenko. The 3-15x42 though is the bargain unless you must have illumination. During the last sale they had the 10x42 HD model for around $419 iirc.

While their scopes are not perfect, what you do get is pretty freaking solid. Sure would be nice to see a hunting oriented 6x42 when they start updating models. Rumor has it............................something like that is in the works. Huge fan of my 10x42 Mil-Quad. Love the reticle

The Helos BTR has a very short mounting area. Other than that the specs look great. I heard they did not fair too well on the "Rokslide Scope Test" section but his testing is pretty rough. Most wont treat their rifles that hard but accidents do happen.

Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, it really does have a short mounting area. I noticed that instantly when putting it in the DNZ 1pc on my Accura. But it didn't cause any issues with getting my eye relief set for me.
I'm not sure what ppl are doing to this scope to make it catastrophically fail, but as you said, I can't see that happening on my Accura regardless of what load I'm using. I love the reticle design & ranging features in it, its great for using the BAC which I prefer to do. I've been to my range 3 times now since mounting it, its tracking right, the more I use it, the more I really like it. The low end FOV is pretty sweet too. The warranty looks pretty bulletproof too, like what Vortex offers. Thats a huge plus IMO.
Daggone it! I wrote this 7hrs ago & got distracted & forgot to hit POST

Most people love the Helos BTR GenIIs. Very few complaints from what i can tell. I like the Midas TAC 4-16x44 but they priced themselves outta of the sweet spot. You can buy the SWFA SS for less now.
