Surprising find at the breech

I was taking somne bore picture of my new St.Louis Hawken, but then it hit me to check out the Mountain Rifles bore since it was still dirty from yesterday.

WOW! I was really surprised to see how filthy and chunky the fouling was down there and on the face of the plug. Its no wonder the breech can get plugged up and not allow the thicker powders to flow under the nipple.

Just guessing...... but I bet very few of us take pictures of the bore to see things like you show us.  I know for myself I do not.  Pretty interesting!
