Anyone have a clue what type of steel Thompson/Center made their tangs from?
I was wondering if I could have the 5.5" long beavertail tang from Track of the Wolf's # PLUG-BT-16--3.......

Welded to one of Thompson/Center's 15/16"" tangs for the Hawken rifle?
I want to do this for the swamped, octagon-round, Fast Twist, .45 caliber barrel project I have in mind.
The steel in the TOW breech plugs is cast 8120
