A 250 grain Hornady XTP needs a 1-49 twist. A 300, a 1-39 1/4. Of course some rifles don't know what they should shoot or not shoot well...
I have a .50 caliber Firehawk with a 1-38 twist that is outstanding with the above mentioned bullets. That twist is also reportedly good for full caliber conical too.
Personally, I love the 1-38, but 200 yards is a poke. Perhaps a more important choice is the sights you intend on using.
If your current rifle has a 1-48, you will not be disappointed with the .45 caliber 250 grain XTP even out to 200 yards.
