Agreed at camp perry when ball c2 was so popular they had a morning zero and an afternoon zero.Environmental conditions alone can change the POI where you'll need to make an adjustment. Sometimes very slight, others much more. It doesn't have to be wind or rain.
Example only............ No wind, identical charges, bullets, etc., at 500yds you need 18moa at 8:00am and at noon you now need 19.5moa.
Its not a stalking rifle...........
For the 600 yard line.
They noted as much as 100/ft sec velocity variations in an other wise stable load.
Kinda why it lost favor.
