Out of curiosity I initially posted some questions about using the 54/750 SuperSlug in Bison rifles, but as there were no responses, I deleted them. On the advice of several who suggested I contact Doc White himself; I did send an email.

For the benefit of anyone else who may look for similar information in the future, Doc kindly sent the following reply.

"The 54/750 bullets were meant for the heavy Grand Alaskan and a few custom gums made for -Africa, the Bison is lighter, so will kick more and the recoil lugs may not stand up to truly heavy recoil. If you going to shoot it, glass Bed the recoil lugs first, I would start with 100 gr Pyrodex , never shot more than 200 gr in any 54. I should mention that White produced 2bullets for thev54 Bison, a 450 and 535 gr bullet. Be cautious, stay safe. Doc"

I greatly appreciate his taking the time to answer all of my questions.
