Hi all - I know this has been discussed before, but with black powder nearly impossible to find...what can be used in the flashpan of a flintlock? FFFg Triple 7? Pyrodex? Any have experience making one of those work?

YES It can be done, honestly it just gums everything up badly flash hole would need constant cleaning between shots and flashes in the pan. Tis one more reason I avoid flintlocks THEY are great (flintlocks) I do not have a supply of actual black powder or an inexpensive way of getting it I stay in percussions and in lines. which have no issues with pyrodex

Yup, I would just go ahead and order a pound of real black 4f and three or more pounds of 3f from grafs and be set. Should be able to get 4lbs of Swiss or 6 of Schutzen/Grafs House brand (still Schutzen) for just about $200
