It has been a while since I had time to get to the range and shoot. Last year in fact, I had started to sight in my MK-95 .54 and had been playing around with my 45 Elite and some 9mm bullets for woodchuck. I decided to abandon this for now since it is getting late in the season here and the crops are tall. Time to re-sight for deer.

Guns and loads
#1 MK-95 Magnum Elite .54 cal.
BH209 100 gr. vol.
CCI 250 LRMP
MMP Purple
325 Uni-Core

#2 45 DISC Elite
BH209 110 gr. vol.
Rem STS
MMP Tan
185 Lehigh

My process is the same as has been posted on here numerous times, Swab with alcohol then dry patch, pop three primes load powder. index sabot with thimble and send it home. Prime fire repeat. I experience the first shot flyer as do many others have not found any lock ease yet to try and dissolve the flyer. Guns were rotated between barrels never got hotter than warm to the touch. No swabbing between shots.

First up was the MK last time I shot this gun it was shooting a little to the right, I was surprised to see it almost dead on. It seems to like the Uni-Cores. I also tried some 400 gr. Seirra JSP (top left) and some 350 gr. Hornady XTP Mags (top right). There was some shooter error and some shooter fatigue involved. I think I can do better will proceed with load development.

Second was the Elite and again I was surprised to see it shooting straight since I had been messing around with different loads. Its a tad high I like a 100 yd. Zero but it shot really well. Back when I bought this gun, squezer sent me a bunch of bullets to try from it and I never got around to it. Today I figured what the hay. I tried the 200 gr. XTP (top left) and the 155 gr. XTP (bottom left) powder remained the same. I pulled one of the 200 XTP's

I will check them again as the weather cools.

Looking good. Those MK-95s are great shooters. Those Unicores are also great shooting bullets. No wonder Tony packed them with his 54's.

I got to admit that it is a bruiser though, almost as bad as my old slug gun. I just wanted to add now that I'm done cleaning that butches bore shine is an excellent product. Smells pretty bad but works great.

They are a light rifle so yup it thumps on both ends!

I have some of the Barnes red sabots but I have not tried them yet. They look like they would be thinner.

I have never measured mine but they shoot better than the MMP purple for me in the 54-120. Difference isnt that much until the charge gets high.

Both are MMP sabots but ive been told the Barnes version is the tougher sabot. Another bullet to try is the Rainier 50-335gr JHP. You can get them at Midway for about $25/100....Yep for 100. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/105014 ... uctFinding

Looks like they got in the COP 50cals too. The 275gr should ease the recoil a bit. $12.50/25

I will give them a try next time I'm out. I have some 275 gr. Barnes that's where I got the sabots from. Where do you get the Rem 385 CLHP? I used to shoot them from my 12 ga. until they got to be $23 a box of five.

Those Rainer 335 Hp's shoot lights out! For me they shot to the same poi as the Unicore, at least not enough change to mess with the scope. I liked them so much I bought a box of 500 when things were not available. :D Then started Pouring Lead.

Figures that's where my searches lead me however they are listed as no longer carried, oh well such is life. I would really like to stumble into some of the Winchester 400 gr. Platinum Tips that they used to sell for the .54's I shot those for years as well from my slug gun and have no complains about their performance either. Good products go by the way of progress or at least fall to latest and greatest invention out there.

I cant imagine those working in a 50 BMG like the seller claims. 50cal handguns have different Land/Groove dimensions than 50 BMG

I did not catch that.

I think Christopher Just got carried away typing. I have bought a bunch of Purple sabots from him. He is a good seller.

The bullets look very interesting. I would like to have a few but i got tons of bullets atm.

But you can buy them right now for $26,700.00. Just tell the Mrs that you are running a little low on inventory.

Even if I had that kind of money laying around I could never shoot up 30,000 of them in my life time. I may contact him to see if I can purchase a couple hundred. Thanks for the link.

I got a couple hundred Speer Gold Dots in45-cal 180 and 230 grain, about $26,680.00 cheaper than that. :drinkers:

The 100 count listing reposted.

They still are pretty expensive, but then again never have bough them either so I have no clue what they originally sold for.

He had a listing several months ago similar to the $26,000. I forget what bullet or bullets it was but only saw it lost one time as I recall. But then maybe he just broke them up. He told me once that he buys close outs and stuff from Gun shops closing to resell.

I would be more apt to go for this one. I just might have had I seen it prior to ordering my mould.
