I use anti-seize on my breech plug and I got to say, it's just like a bucket of tar, as soon as the lid comes off.... it's on ya

To me, the tales of the messiness of antiseize is strange. I don't use the nickel, silver, or copper type on my plug, I use the Heavy Duty black anti seize that comes in a squeeze tube, and I use just the tiniest amount. It really doesn't take too much at all, about the size of a small pea, even then about half of it gets pushed out when reinstalling the plug. If you put just a tiny amount on the first 3-4 threads and install then remove the plug you'll see just how far a little bit goes. I suspect that if it's getting all over stuff you may be using way too much. The cans with brushes are the worst as far as messy application.
For me I think it's less trouble and mess even, than Teflon tape.
