Went to the 4th eye doctor and exam today about my detached eye retna and he said he wants me in surgery this Friday morning(the 10th) at 8:eek:o for surgery to have it taken care of.Then Sat.I go back for a follow up to see how things are going. It will mean no deer hunting until at least Mon.the 13th.I was amazed at how quick it is happening considering it already has been 5 months. My younger brother is going to take me down and bring me back. The doctor said the surgery would only be about 45 minutes.Good thing our gun season opens up on the 18th,so I will need to take another trip to the gun range.I thought the surgery was going to be scheduled later on,but glad it is happening sooner.

Dang, I hope everything goes well. I had a friend go through the same thing a few years ago. He kept complaining about blurry vision in one of his eyes. I had a good idea what it was, only because my father-in-law had gone through the same thing. Unfortunately my father-in-law waited to long and they couldn't fix it.
So that being said, I'm going to tell you what I told my friend. (Which is what my dad always said.)
You only have 1 set of eyes, you better take care of them.
I do sincerely hope all goes well!!!

Been there too. I woke up one morning and it looked like there was a black 1/2 moon covering my right eye. I only had about 1/4 of vision in it. Called the Ophthalmologist and He told me to come immediately to his office, on a Saturday. Wife took me and sure enough, a torn and detached retina. Next thing I know, he's on the phone with another doctor and we headed to Gaylord. Doc checked and said that Monday would be surgery day. He thought he may have to put a "buckle" on it???
Anyway, surgery went well, but all the way across the state at Munson in Traverse City.
I've had a total of 6 eye procedures, the last two being cataract surgeries.

You got this!

A few years ago I was bothered with a blind spot centered in my right, dominant, eye. I had retinal surgery to "hopefully" get it better. I was warned of the possible risks but opted for it anyway. I was only put under long enough for the shot in my eye to numb the pain. I was in La La land but fully conscious and my eye lid was held open by a second doctor. I could feel the scraping going on but I didn't care at all, obviously.

Now the blind spot is essentially gone now but my eyesight is still just generally lousy. That's okay since I already learned to aim by sense of smell.

I've had the fluid removed and replaced in both eyes. Seeing the needle inside your eye, sucking out the fluid is something...... LOL

Trying to figure out how to start this post.OhIknow.Bullsh&& and bullsh&& and more bullsh&&.Received 3 phone calls yesterday from nurses wanting to pre-register me and go through the procedure for my eye.So I get uo at 5:30 this morning and my brother shows up and we drive well over an hour for my surgery.
So guess what? The doctor who was suppose to do the surgery left the country yesterday and no one else to do the surgery. So after ranting and raving to everyone, they all told me they did not know til this morning that he had left.So now I need to find some one else to follow up with.Talking about some one being totally pi$$ed off,my brother had to escort me out of the hospital. On the 15th I go to my v.a. primary doctor so I am going to bring this to her attention and see what they might be able to do.Right now that is the only option I have. Will keep updates and I go along.

That is a bunch of crap.

I was doing some salvage work on a burned out barn…. copper and stainless piping…. and stepped on a board with a 60 penny nail sticking straight up. Went thru the boot sole, foot and out the top leather. We managed to pull my foot off the board/mail and I drove to the er. No bones or tendon damage so they cleaned the wound, gave me my shot and sent me home. The following day I was scheduled for surgery to removed some non-cancerous tissue growing on my vocal cords. While I’m knocked out my surgeon contacts an Orthopedic surgeon about the hole in my foot so when I wake up I find out that I have an appointment with said ortopod the next morning. Now I cannot talk for ten days but took my tablet and pencil and went to that appt as scheduled. The nurse got me in the room with my shoe off and ran some mambo jumbo by me about what this fools notes from the day before
reflected and that he’d be in in a couple minutes. Two hours later I am still sitting there without having seen anyone since the lady in scrubs left so I put the shoe back on and commenced to leave. Now the wife worked at this clinic and asked that I stop by her office when I was done. She looked at the clock when I walked in and asked what the heck they did that took over two hours. I told her what happened in writing of course then left and went home. PISSED. Ma called that department to find out what the problem was. Since I was the first appt for that yak doc, nobody knew that the fool doc had called HIS secretary and cancelled his morning slate to go golfing. That afternoon I got a call to return along with some sorry crap of an explanation of what happened that morning but zero apology. I politely told them (in a whisper) that I was in no way going to trust my foot to anyone that irresponsible and instead said that I’d be lodging a complaint with their ethics department.

In large part, health care sucks and far too much of it is only about $$$$.

MrTom your lucks like mine, yes lot of its money, I know different states do different I guess, but it seems like everyone you talk to had about same trouble one time or another with doctors.

What a bunch of Bull pies! Some doctors must think we are peons compared to them. I have had similar experiences more than once. That is like the docs office that mailed me a letter the day before to tell me the doc would be gone and cancel my appointment. My appt was for 10 am, it is a three hour drive to his office and of course I was PI$$ED when he was not there. Two days later the letter arrived. GEEZ! Now if the ones who pull these stunts had to pay for our time........

Good news.I got word this week that there is another eye surgeon that is going to do my eye surgery. It is sheduled for the 8th of Dec.One day after my birthday.First thing my brother asked was I going to make it for mzl season which opens the 9th of Dec.but it runs for 16 days.I told him I need to wait and see what the doctor says on the follow up the next day. But,at least it is getting done.I can always hunt next year.
