Modifying original disc stock

Is there any reason I shouldn't open up the inletting on a thumbhole original disc stock to fit the Y type recoil plug on a newer barrel I would also like to use? I want to be able to swap barrels back and forth from 45 to 50 and not need a second entire rifle.

If it's synthetic or laminate, you'd have to determine if there's enough meat there.
Otherwise, you could have a problem.

I did that on a Knight laminate stock(not a TH), to use a UL barrel, it seemed to have plenty of wood there.
