finally found sst and xtp bullets for a 45-70 conversion with an arrowhead breech plug.

so, how low do you start with 4198 powder? how low can you go?

i have an e mail in to the builder but have not had a reply.

encore 45-70 barrel with a arrowhead gen 2 breech plug.
200gr hornady sst with a blue CR
200gr xtp with a blue CR
225 gr .451 hornady xtp knurled they seem a snug fit.
i have Imr 4198 and H 4198 -might prefer imr, just cause H is unobtanium
the modules are 45-70 size for a large rifle primer --or magnum?

also have 40 lb of N133 if any one has ever shot it.

i had the breech plug out but did not know to measure it. i cleaned the barrel and snapped a cap just to see.

what else dont i know?? should magnum primers be used?

thanks for the info.
it would appear my powder column will take less than 40 gr of 4198. with 40 gr the mark of the ramrod is .3 in more than the mark with a wood plug inserted. but 40 is certainly safe.
