I started a thread on the "Bullet Casting" forum about bullet molds and lube grooves. . .well, that sorta got de-railed into a discussion on barrel work and folks who do rifling/rebore work. I have a T/C Hawken barrel in .45 cal with a 1:48 twist that I'm wanting to look into making a 1:28/1:30 fast twist barrel while still staying in the .45 cal diameter bullet range. I sent a letter to Mr. Bobby Hoyt and an email to Romano Rifle Co. today in regards to what I want to achieve. . .is there any other respectable barrel smiths that anyone cares to recommend?
If this doesn't seem like it will be a feasible solution to my barrel quest, then I'm going to just go with one of the custom barrel manufacturers and call it good! I'm beginning to see the sidelock muzzleloader "rabbit hole" opening up wider and deeper all the time - LOL !!!
