Maybe when this fall we can get together and shoot something. I hunt on 320 acres of rolling hills and creek bottoms. Hopefully they get wheat in this year usually about 80 acres of wheat owners haven't planted in 2 years that brings the numbers down.

I live in Antlers. This past season, I hunted the Hugo wildlife area, just down the road from my house. I'm still kinda new to the area, I never even knew about that spot. I saw a lot of deer and a few nice bucks there.
It would be great to get together at some point.

I went to the circus cemetery a few years ago in Hugo. I actually had tears in my eyes. Thinking about the millions of smiles put on peoples faces, and them dieing with noone or no place to go its really sad, knowing how much joy they brought into the world just to be forgotten.

There's a story that is on a plaque there to summarize it says that a lady i believe bought that spot in the cemetery for the performers to have a final resting place.

I know the post has been buried for awhile, but I keep telling everyone to enjoy while you can.

Yup, the sinuses are much better. Not perfect yet but very close. I have one last post surgical appointment towards the end of May, 6 months.

A few posts back of mine I mentioned that I was gaining way to much weight. Between Covid lockdowns, this surgery, knee issues flaring back up and in general just feeling like ship, now there's another problem. Evidently now I have diabetes or the start of.
I just haven't felt good and had a few new issues pop up. I became so thirsty that I couldn't get enough to drink, which lead to having to urinate about every 10 to 15min. So I called all the doctors up, Urologist, Primary and Ortho for appointments. And of course you will wait before getting into any of them. My knee got so bad waiting 6wks I could hardly walk and had to use my brace 90% of the time. I finally got in to the Ortho and the shot in the knee was a God send. Next up was the primary, who I just seen two days ago.
The primary doc listened to my bitching and right off he mentioned A1C and blood work. He also mentioned that he'd have my PSA checked and it would be on file for next weeks Urologist appointment. 4 vials of blood and I was out of there.

This hospital group and group of doctors here have a web site you can access and has most of, not all, of your medical information and it includes test results.
Yesterday an email pops up informing me that I have new results. I opened that up and that's where the information shows my A1C. My hemoglobin A1C level is 8.9% with a normal range of 4.3 to 6%. My Random Glucose level is 214mg with a normal range of 65-139mg.
Because I get this information as fast as my doc, I fully expect a call today or Monday about what I have to do next. When there the other day, he put me on Phentermine to help with the weight issue. First day of taking that was yesterday.

So I keep saying.......... ENJOY.......... while you can. This stuff creeps up on you and before you know it, life changes again. Don't put off seeing the doc! Being ornery isn't going to help you with your health, so listen to family and visit that doc. Stop worrying about all the shortages of ammunition, propellants and such. Take care of yourself first.

Encore50A. I have diabetes and its not that big a deal. I take insulin 2 times a day. You can still be reasonable with what you eat. Dont live off of ice cream and chocolate but if you want to have a treat now and then you can do so.
I take a short term (for what I just ate for breakfast) insulin in the morning with a pill. I repeat after supper. My A1C is usually under 8. I don't test at all (the finger prick thing) in between doctor visits. I told him I wouldn't do that. I go in about a week before my checkup (every 4 months) and and they take blood. By the time my checkup comes around the Doc has the result. I eat the same food as everyone else. Like I say, dont live off of sugar but I still enjoy an ice cream cone (single dip) every 2 weeks or so. Stay away from pop.

My family doctor refereed me to a "specialist". He (the specialist) was an idiot. I told him I could not target a 6-7 A1C because some days I am very active and some days not. So if I have an A1C of 6 and go out and dig fence posts there is a good chance they will find me there after my last breath. If you dont know it insulin can kill you just as easily as poison if you take too much. So I choose to target an 8 so I have a bumper. That is a little extra sugar in the system in the event I do a lot of physical work.

It will take a few weeks to find the grove but it will be fine. PM me if you have questions.

Snapbang.......... Thanks.
I got the call this afternoon from the nurse and I have to see them Monday morning. The doc prescribed me Metformin 500mg which I start in the morning.
The nurse told me that what I have is called steroid induced diabetes. I'll know what his plan is Monday I guess.

The "specialist" sent me home with no real instruction on how to give myself a shot. Thought it would have been nice if they would have done a "dry run" with me to show me how. That should have been my first indicator he really didnt give a rats a$$. On top of that I was attacked by a dog when I was a little kid so my first exposure that I remember to a shot wasn't good. It took me hours to work up the courage to do it myself. Sounds like maybe Im a candy a$$. Let me know if you need help. If you want to talk send me a PM with your phone. Ill be going through Grayling this week if you want to meet up.

Hey Encore, sorry to hear about the diabetes, it kinda sucks but like was mentioned before better than the alternative. I've been a Type 1 (insulin dependent, early onset) since I was 5, that was 23 yrs ago, I'll let you do the math....
There's a lot that can be done to stop and in many cases reverse type 2, I think the steroid induced version would fall into this category, sounds like they're treating it as such.
Type 1 like I have is permanent but the same things help immensely in getting stable numbers. Diet, exercise, and vitamin D3, it can be a large adjustment to the taste buds however there are still plenty of good things to eat.
It's basically all about reducing carbs...
Hit me up if you want to talk or have questions about the learning curve.

Be careful taking Metformin! I was on it for pre-diabetes, after a year an half starting having bowl problems (to put it nice). I'm allergic to Metformin, symptoms stopped after I quit taking it. Read up on the side effects!! Just beware please....

The nurse told me IIRC that the Metformin was temporary to help with the major fatigue I'm having. But I'll keep track, thanks.
First day starting this morning and I'm ok (I think :) ) along with Phentermine.

Hope all goes well with the medication. Remember these are the golden years. At least they keep telling us that
