Has anyone used the Barnes 300 grain 458 SOCOM bullet on game?  I had been looking at this bullet to try in a muzzleloader. A friend of mine bought an upper for his modern sporting rifle and didn't have good results. He used SBR loaded ammo and needed to hit a deer 3 times in the lungs to drop it. The hits were in the lungs(he is a doctor) but the bullets didn't seem to expand much. The first shot was around 50 yards out and has a muzzle velocity of 1750 FPS.
We plan on hand loading some but don't want to repeat the same performance. The muzzleloaders will be pushing the round a little faster which could help with them opening.
