"What's your favorite load for that 20ga. Fowler?  I just got meself one!!"

I've got two 20's and I usually like 80 sometimes 90gr's of 2ff behind a 595 patched ball. If I'm usin shot I load 10gr's more shot than powder. I load the same in my 12ga flinter.

80gr's of 2ff is plenty, These two deer were taken with one shot from my 20ga with 80gr's. The ball went through the 1st deer and almost through the 2nd one. Ball was recovered just under the hide on the off side. It earned the gun the name of "Ole Two-fer"

Didn't you know these ol' flintlocks can't  kill deer!  You gotta have one of those "space guns" to do that.

You have to dial it to "stun"; that will stop 'em.  And does that thing morph into a car? :affraid:

Man oh man!  That's a room to dream about.  That mounted "deer feeding" is great.

As i said before Lobo..your room is more of a museum than a man room...like going back in time...I enjoy reading your hunting adventures...

WE WAS MOUNTAINMEN..by Ron LaClair

I remember when, we was Mountainmen
seems like it weren't long ago
We was bullhide tough an we played real rough
there wern't a man that we couldn't throw

When we put sights on a deer our eyes was clear
an that critter was soon on a pole
We Mountainmen...who'd a thought back then
that we would ever grow old

We shoot smoothbores now, can't see rear sights
but the front blade is still fairly clear
We load them smoothies with a big round ball
an still manage to kill us some deer

We still rendezvous an we still count coup
but it ain't like it use ta be
Our joints is worn an it's hard ta run
when ya got a titanium knee

Then there's them pipes, ya just never know
if they're in the shape they should be
So the Doc he says, "Son I think it's time
ya had a colonoscopy"

Can't sleep no more on the cold hard ground
since we got that new plastic hip
use ta drink a whole jug round the fire at night
now it's just a few little sips

The day will come...not far down the road
when they'll wanna put us in a home
They'll say we're too old ta be out in the cold
to old ta hunt on our own

When they come ta take me to that old folks home
on some cold dark rainy night
They'll sure be surprised when this ole coon says,
"BOYS, THAT'LL BE AFTER THE FIGHT!"....WAUGH!

But if THEY win an I'm put in
To that fearsome, lonely place
To swaller pills cause I got the chills
'Mongst wrinkles on my face,

Then remember me, Y'all that's still free,
And hold to the mountain creed,
To never rest, but fight yer best,
Till the ol' coon is finely freed!

It will be a cold day in hell before they'll take me to an old folks home.

I'll die in my mountains first.

Dang, now I'm a bit depressed!  Reckon I'll shoot me musket after work... Smell of some black powder smoke should cheer me up!!!

Good stuff, Lobo!!

No need to be depressed, ya got 25 or 30 good years ahead of ya... :thumbs up:

Lobo I don't know which I enjoy the most, your stories in T/B  or your poetry here on the forum. They have entertained me from my journey through archery now to black powder. Thanks , and you DO have some nice stuff.
