Interesting, i didnt know pike & pickerel are the same. This close to Canada, walleye are sometimes called pickerel. Not the same thing at all, tho. I fish for ‘eyes but not pike.We are worlds apart but have similar fish. You've the Northern Pickerel and we the Chain Pickerel, the smaller almost identical relative. I've caught them almost 30" and 6 to 7 pounds. Couldn't image them at 40" with that kinda girth. Either open water or through the ice that's a animal!
