How is the Apex compared to the new CV2 version? I could buy the CV2 for another 50.00 up here.....!

Do you mean Accura V2 or Optima V2?

If it were me, I would still get the Apex if the price is right and the condition is good, it's an all stainless steel action that can handle centerfire rounds vs. the lighter alloy used in the other two. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the other two rifles either, I just like the beefier action and flexibility of having a 50 cal. and 45 cal. barrel.

My bad guys meant the Accura V2......but pulled the trigger on the Apex. Its in mint like new condition so committed to purchase.

Thanks to all that responded, as with most boards a lot of knowledge out there and appreciate when its shared to help one make a decision.

Good deal!!! Make sure to keep an eye out for barrels especially the 45/70 full contour barrel. Those make exceptionally good fast twist 45s and it would be a nice thumper in areas with dangerous game.

Arrowhead Sporting Goods has some 45-70 barrels on clearance already converted to LRMP. I asked why they were on clearance and Luke stated that he had more barrels than actions when he got them in, so nothing wrong with them.

I'm going to have to find a way to that 45 barrel up here...... :d'oh!:

Another neophyte question, what is the difference between these two barrels...?

CVA Apex 45/70 Barrel Threaded for ASG 209 BP + Breech Plug (barrel & BP only, no forend) - $340
Quantity:

CVA Apex 45/70 Barrel Threaded for ASG BP + Gen2 Breech Plug & 20 Modules (barrel & BP/modules only, no forend) - $430
Quantity:

I'm assuming the barrel in the bottom link uses a large rifle primer in the modules provided vs a 209 prime in the top barrel.

The first one is bare 209 primer. It goes directly into the breach plug.

The 2nd one is a Large rifle mag primer that you insert into a module using a press. The module is based on a 45/70 case head and so you would use a 45/70 shell holder to re-prime them.

The 209 system is more simple. The LRMP system is better for higher pressures and a little easier to handle. Either works fine for Blackhorn209.

Thanks agin guys. Tried posting pics of the Apex but photos are too large. Will try to figure out how to reduce.

Will also be posting pic of my 2018 Whitetail with story in another thread along with some thanks to a good friend of mine who ignited ( the muzzle loading) bug again. It's been a few years since i dragged the Encore out of the gun safe and am gald he convinced me. He's my enabler.....lol

Re: CVA Apex UPDATE

Well my new to me used Apex arrived and must say it is in pristine condition. First impressions upon shouldering it are comfortable, and well balanced, can hardly wait to test it out. Going to be mounting a Burris E1 3x9 Fullfield for optics.

The QRBP has the two flanges and is 209 primer compliant and am assuming will have to upgrade to shoot Blackhorn reliably. Hopefully it shoots as good as it looks.

We have some wild boar up here so that will be my test on it.

Thanks for those that shared their knowledge that pushed me over the edge...... :yeah:

Although im not overly fond of break actions and even less fond of the imports, the Apex is about the best ever made from any brand. Its a ton of rifle for the money and overall it has very few problems. At the very least CVA/Bergara should have stuck with the Apex as a non-swap barrel rifle. The vast majority of other break action imports ive seen are REALLY high dollar rifles.
