Ok I went a different route and decided to do a lighter oil based stain rather than dark. The stock has a 2000 grit final finish and one coat of Birchwood Casey Genuine oil on it so far. Now its just time to apply about 10 coats and then move onto the brass.

I may also do a little tack work too but haven't made up my mind yet.

Looks great in natural sunlight FG. Unlike some off-the-shelf light-colored stocks, yours has a nice warm honey color to it.

I still have to polish out the trigger guard and furnish the ramrod, but other than that, here she be! 2000 grit finish, 10 coats of hand rubbed genuine oil finish.

This rifle will be up for sale as well if anyone is looking for a damn good looking and shooting rifle. Updated steel sights all the way around.

You have great attention to detail on your builds. It's tough to make a plain straight grain stock look good but you have done it well.
