Took the new to me 54 caliber up to the range this morning.
Started out with 60 grains V of some old Goex 3f that I've had for years.
First shot hit pretty low, then next 3 grouped up well.
Bumped up to 70 grains and another decent group.
.530 ball, lubed over powder patch and wrapped the ball with a cotton .010 patch.
Still have more work to do but all in all pretty happy with the old girl.

Cutting cloverleafs at 50 yards, the first time out? :lewis:

Yes, I’d say that that rifle definitely “grouped up well!” :p
People sometimes trash these old CVA guns. I've picked up a couple vintage Mountain Stalkers, Bobcat and now this Missouri and they all shoot really good. While they may not be on a par with old Thompson Center Arms, I'm a fan.

I’ve got a CVA Hawken 50cal and it shot as good as any of my T/C’s and was half the price. When I am done downsizing my collection, it will be the only one that stays.
