Heavy Trigger

I just acquired my first flintlock. It has a L&R late English lock. The lock functions but the trigger pull is extreme. What is my best bet to get a lighter trigger pull? Right now it requires over ten lbs to trip the action.

Well, I found the problem. After following Jons guide for polishing the lock there was no improvement. Finally turned out there was a bit of wood on the bottom of the cut out for the rod between the sear and the trigger that was rubbing. Removed the b it of wood and all is good.
