I agree with the softness issue, not all tell you in their manual the springs and frizzens (if equipped) may need to be hardened. That's were this product comes to light.

:lol!: one of these days I will. Just haven't done a whole lot of lock work over the years.
 
L&R and Chambers are ones of the few that watch the hardness on their parts, don't have someone assemble a lock from a kit if they are untrained. We found this out through GRRW.CA and ended up replacing the few we found, our gunsmiths know locks and figured those few replaced were old stock from an unknown supplier. Caywood and several others also warn about using pliers and vice grips like Jonathan said "Now if you gorilla it and clamp it down all the way, yes, I'd imagine one would break a spring like that."

We did a test as stated and they do break if tightened to much. 😕
