I'm expecting a .445 caplock tomorrow and would like suggestions for a starting load using 3F black powder.
The barrel is 24" long and has 1:56 twist. I'll be using both .433 and .440 round balls.

Do you think a 1:56 will stabilize a REAL or maxiball?

Depends on the depth of the rifling. If rifling is .010" deep it probably do conicals well.  If .004-.006" it'll be ok.

It might with the conicals.

I'd try 50-60gr 3fg or 2fg and go from there.

60gr 3fg for sure with the round balls.

Run about 20 rounds through the bore with that shoot out lube you bought and I think you'll do that bore a lot of good.
