Savage 10ML2 Problems

I have a Savage 10 ML2 that I'm having problems closing the bolt with a primer in it, with no primer it closes fine but with the primer it is hard to close all the way down.

What primer are you using? Sometimes mine is a tough close, but not all the time

I use Winchester 209 primers and they can also be a little hard to close. I think it's the nature of the beast. Mine seals up great and shoots every time I pull the trigger.

I bought a brick of Federal primers a while back so that's all I've ever used, seemes like it's gotten harder to close this year than before.

Have you cleaned the carbon out the Primer Pocket lately? Just remove enough carbon so that the Bolt closes how you like.

Its been a longtime and I forget the proper drill bit size for the primer pocket for a ML2 but thats the way I cleaned the primer pocket...dont chuck the bit up in a drill and do it by hand..you may need a pair of pliers to hold the bit still...also make sure that your plug threads are clean and you have a clean mating surface so your plug completely seats..

These work great for holding your drill bit. Double check to make sure you order the correct one that will fit your particular drill bit size.

Thanks again for the responses, Cleaned the pocket with a drill bit and that solved the problem definitely had some crud built up.
