Starting a Food plot

Last year was the first time I actually put a food plot out using my reartine tiller, and have hunted over it. This year I wasn't able to get one out, but I was wondering how early I can start getting one ready? Would my tiller be sufficient enough to break the ground? I had used a mix from my local feed store. Missouri is already into Bow so I consider it too late for this year.

You better wait with this year and the different hunting seasons coming in. Mark your calendar for next year giving yourself plenty of time for your crop to do you any good with its growth.
