Thanks. That helps clear up my understanding. To me it doesn't seem to be the best idea to leave the bolt cocked. Maybe dry firing doesn't hurt the firing pin or firing pin spring but it seems to me that it might. Would you know. If there a way to uncock it without dry firing?

Open the bolt. Pull the trigger and lower the bolt handle slowly. With the trigger pulled lowering the bolt handle slowly allows the hammer to move forward slowly.

PMed Mark here last night and texted with him this morning and ordered the patriot in forest camo (green) laminate stock , .45 cal. with the Brux 1-20 26 inch barrel , P1 scope mount , his .45 cleaning jag and i got my e-mail confirmation from him .
now comes the hard part , waiting patiently till june/july .
