Just a little over 2 minutes 30 seconds per round. You should probably plan on taking 2 sighting shots at each distance on Saturday just to be on the safe side since you will be shooting without confirmed sight settings. As you have probably found out, having everything arranged perfectly on your mat and loading table saves time. X
After those first two rounds I remembered you and Bob saying move the body not the rifle. Shots started coming together after that. I adjusted my sticks using the rifle BEFORE I started and had them at a good height. When I finished shooting, I marked them. The sticks can be a little wobbly.

I have another box of the Arrowhead 350gr XLD's coming from Luke for a better chart workup out to 600yds. Knowing the velocity is extremely important not being able to actually shoot 8,9 and 1k. The Magnetospeed should be here Tuesday and that problem will be solved.

Fun day............................

Moved the heavy bench out of the way. Mats out, cross sticks in place and the loading table is ready.

I set the timer and away I went. I had a couple hic-ups but made it in time.

Finished in 26min ...........

Those hic-ups really wanted to cause an anxious condition, but pretty happy with the target for timing the 10 rounds.
The two high right are first two sent.

What distance?

Yup.........the sticks can be wobbly. That's why we taper them at the spike end. Sink those down as deep as you can for less wobble. Make sure to get back to your 600 yd. range for more X-stick practice. You probably don't need to time yourself, you just need to get more mirage and wind experience to see how stupid things can get. I know you said you like to make your sight corrections using the turrets. Just consider this though. At the end of your relay, time might [will] be getting real short with 2, maybe 3 shots to go. You might have to "hold off" high right, low left etc. from your last shot just to save the 5-10 seconds it takes to adjust your windage and elevation. Every second counts near the end of your relay! I realize it's quick and dirty but it works..........just think about it........you may have to do it. One more thing. re-read the part of the match flyer about "converting" your sighting shots. This means that if you start off your sighting shots with a [example] 6, 9, and a 10, you can "convert" the 9 and 10 into your first 2 shots for score but in reverse order. In other words, you can count your first shot for score as the 10, and the second shot as the 9 but you absolutely must tell your spotter/scorekeeperthat you want to do that! Your next shot would be your 3rd shot for score. If I am incorrect, 45-70 will correct me. The NRA matches don't use the "converting" system. You take as many sighters as you want then tell your spotter/scorekeeper you are "going for score".
As far as bullets go, the bullets I cast and shoot cost about 85 cents for 16. Life is good! X

The Magnetospeed V3 showed up and I was able to use it yesterday. I had set it up the night before after it arrived and had planned on the processes of swabbing and loading. I could see that if someone didn't plan on how to use it, it might be cumbersome but, its only used to identify velocity. It's not designed to use and attempt to shoot accurately, as it will affect the barrel harmonics.

The 350gr XLD's with BH209 and a 120gr VOLUME charge of Lot#39 is running an average of 2,173fps, SD of 20 over 5 rounds.

That's some serious medicine sir! Looking forward to seeing some groups..

Curious, does everyone at this Competition use 120 Grs by Volume? Is it the Maximum Allowed even if you are shooting a Smokeless Capable Custom Rifle?

It took some cyphering, but this will be as close as possible without actually shooting 800, 900 and 1,000yds.

Verification, I guess, will have to come at Camp Atterbury.
This event should be a lot of FUN. We can help each other, and all might learn something too.

Drops based on 2173fps MV ............................ Zero range 107yds

Note: Horizonal correction is with ZERO WIND. The figures are for SPIN DRIFT ONLY.

Encore, will the bullet going trans sonic between 800-700 yards affect anything? I know it affects a pellet accuracy-wise.

I have absolutely no clue to be honest. We will all find out soon I guess.

To my knowledge and IIRC 45-70 made mention that this is a first for modern inline rifles, including a first for BH209 and modern bullets. With the propellant maximum of 120grs, we'll all be going sub-sonic by 800yds, the starting distance at Atterbury.

I know Chris shot Sunday and was able to hit at 800 and 900yds. For 1,000yds he doesn't have enough scope adjustment and had to hold over. He did not connect at 1,000yds.
I figured it out early that the 20moa base I had would not be enough, even with 100moa vertical adjustment in the scope. I put a 40moa mount on and it doesn't leave me much room on either end but, I have adjustment enough to make 1,200yds I believe, with this maximum charge limit of 120grs volume.

If they ever change it to where the customs could shoot the BH that they're rated for, it would make a huge difference. I'll be paying close attention to others with experience.

45-70 and Xring............

Shot 600yds today and again I struggled. Solid ground with the mat and cross sticks. Following wind from the south at 6mph, which changed slightly to the SSW and increased to 9mph or so.
For some reason I just could not get steady behind the rifle today. Dialed to and remained at 26moa with a 100yd zero.
Its not often that I can't make an adjustment but..... that's normally shooting from the bench, not prone and from cross sticks. Its not easy to get the hang of it in a short time.

Here's the target shot today. 12 rounds. First two rounds are the far right.

I have no problem sharing my PP targets :)

After getting home and while cleaning the rifle, I was going over the shooting today. I got to thinking that I had raised my sticks. In other words my position behind the rifle was higher. You guys are pros at this type shooting so, was my being higher on the sticks likely to have caused my issue today?????

yep, once on sticks sight to target and exhale , you should stay on target, body alignment, if to high once trigger is released you relax and it will go high if sticks are
