Hi guys! So I've been browsing the site Muzzle-loaders.com for some inline muzzleloaders. Something powerful and accurate but at a decent price. I wanted to buy all of my supplies needed to start shooting from this site and I wanted to check in with some of the experts here to make sure the shipment of my supplies to my door and the shooting goes smoothly.

I was thinking of getting the CVA Wolf Stainless - PR2110S. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/cva-wolftm-stainless-pr2110s.html

I read through the pdf manual attached and also watched the tutorial video in the side panel - these were helpful for getting me started with what I need to know.

The tutorial video suggests the IMR White Hots for pelletized powder - now I'm assuming this is not a smokeless powder because the first rule they emphasized was to never load the gun with a smokeless powder. I read some of the sticky threads on the forum list and the White Hots were not included in the list of powders recommended to use, which is why I wanted to check in about that. This is what I'm talking about: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/muzzleloader-powder-primers/imr-white-hots-pellets.html

I learned that I would need some 209 Primers. These were the only ones in stock that seemed to match the description, Federal 209As. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/muzzleloader-powder-primers/federal-209a-primers.html

Now for the bullets, this is where I am a little unsure. I am living in California and I have learned that many bullets are not legal to shoot here, such as the ones shown in the video, being the PowerBelt Aerolite .50 Cal/250 Grain - AC1550AT. It seems all the PowerBelt brand bullets are illegal. I refined the search to only show California legal bullets, and decided that the Thor .50 Cal Conical bullets (one size fits all, so I won't have to buy the size-testing kit) could suffice. Would these bullets work for the CVA Wolf PR2110S? https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/bull...ll-bore-conical-247-to-300-grain-bullets.html

I also added on some breech-plug grease to my cart which the video informed I should use. This was the only one in stock that seemed like the right kind: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/thompson-center-t-17-breech-plug-grease.html

And finally, I thought a bullet starter would be helpful as well: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/powerbelt-bullet-starter-ac1500.html

I know those are a lot of links and I'm asking for pretty specific info - but I really hope someone here can confirm for me that I will not be making a mistake by buying all of these together! I want them all to arrive in one shipment together.

The second part of my post is about the shipment. The Muzzle-loaders.com website says that all orders are rush-shipped right to your door, no FFL necessary, except for a few states, thankfully California is not an exception. They ship from Oregon so with standard shipping they should arrive for me in 1-2 days. I will stay home during delivery day so I can give a signature to the delivery person.

Could there be anything unexpected that could occur during the shipment? Could I be asked any questions about background checks, or anything that could prevent me from receiving the gun and supplies with no questions asked? I just want to be sure that I won't be denied the delivery due to... I don't know. The combination of the supplies I ordered = something illegal? Ha, that's just why I came here to ask. Sometimes I'm quick to jump the gun on my decisions and fear that I could overlook something, being new to all of this.

So what do you think? Thanks for reading and I appreciate all feedback.

Buy the powder&primers locally to avoid the hasmat fee. Look into what cleaning supplies you may need also. Good luck.

I ordered the One Size Fits All Thor based on the same logic as you... don’t have to order the sizer pack first.

Could only get it a few inches down the bore. Super tight.

Had to knock it out from the rear.

So then I ordered a sizer pack and determined that I have a .501 bore. And the .501 Thor bullets load nicely.

This is in a Knight Ultralight, so your experience may be different.

But if you’re set on it, I have a pack of 15 (-1) of Thor One Size available; just pay shipping.

Are you allowed to use a sabot with the bullet in CA? If so, a simple Barnes copper with a ‘crush-rib’ sabot from Harvester would work great. You may have to mix & match some for the right fit.

What about Blackthorn 209 powder? I’d go that direction if the gun is compatible.

Thanks for sharing your experience - my rifle and bullets came in the mail the other day and the Thor OSFA bullets could not even get started down the barrel, and I was using a PowerBelt bullet starter. I will have to try something else, from Muzzle-loaders.com.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look up those sabots.

In CA I think you're gonna find Barnes all copper bullets might comply with the law. The Thor is a good bullet but may be harder to acquire or more expensive.

The link below will give you the "Certified Nonlead Ammunition" California allows.

Checking out the listing for Barnes, the "Expander MZ Copper bullets" are on the California list

The following is a link to the lists Barnes site. It is a pdf file so whatever your using to view it must be able to handle pdf.
I found the muzzleloading bullets on page 5 and 6. These all use a sabot which I believe comes with the bullets.

I don't know how well they will shoot in your gun and can say, if in-line guns are like traditional guns (and I'm sure they are), each gun is different so the only way to find out is to spend the money to buy some, take them out and shoot them and see what happens.

The Barnes Xpanders will shoot in your Wolf. Play with powder charges to get the best accuracy. I'd imagine between 90 and 110 grain by volume.
