I just added an Austin & Halleck .45 cal to my collection, shot it the first time yesterday with 90 gns BH 209 and got some blowback each time, not bad, but a nuisance for sure. The open breech design baffles me, why the heck not make that a little better. I understand why, some states don’t allow closed breech ignition and they tried to create a rifle that would work in as much of the country as possible (I’m guessing of course). I came up with this fix after looking at some other posts. Still need to drill a vent hole in it.
Anybody know where I might find one of the .32 cal adaptors that I saw Randy Wakeman posting about on another thread?, or if anyone else makes the 209 nipple portion still? All I could find was the whole adaptor with the hammer and all. The hole in my nipple is rather large it appears compared to the musket and #11 adaptors that came with the gun. I want to shoot BH out of it.
