I have the same rifle they should work if the metal is not to hard . I tried 777Winchester primers but they did stick I switched to the Federal muzzleloader primer worked fine I eventually switched it over to no 11 caps and regular BP or Pyrodex much cleaner.
So cheddite fouls up bad?

I’ve been getting my O Rings from “Mr O Ring” on Amazon. Been happy with price and shipping.
Search primers sizes on here and one will find some VG charts of sizes.

Thats an interesting test. I have a Traditions Buckstalker xt in .50 cal. In my area, BC, I can buy in bulk Cheddite cx2000 type 209, or Nobel Sport 209's. Seems like the Cheddites should be ok, any thoughts between the two? I have some CCI muzzleload primers but I have to order those with all the fees for shipping.

The Nobels are longer and if they are the 688s then they are supposed to be hotter primers than the 686s.

I ordered 1,000 cheddites so I'm going to give them a fair shot anyways. Can't find blackhorn so they should shoot triple se7en fine.

It’s more a function of the way the two piece breech plug works . The area around the primer retaining wire is open on both sides so a lot of fouling gets sprayed into the action . If the plug was completely enclosed fouling would be less .

I'm installing the badgerridge model 700 conversion kit Into my ML right now. Gives a sealed breech. No blowback, so should be fine if I had to guess

Extremely hard to imagine the Cheddites are more powerful than a CCI209M or FED209A. Toby Bridges did a test using all of them in a 32cal shooting a PRB with only the primer. The Cheddites were about the same as the Win209s

GM I need to agree with you your thoughts, not necessarily Toby's. The military purchases the 209A because it is the strongest 209 primer on the market.

When you dig into the Cheddite primer specs you will see that it was built to mimic the Winchester W209 and is recommended to Trap shooters as a direct replacement. It does produce slightly more pressure than a W209. I use it extensively for trap shooting and it is nowhere near the power of the 209A or the CCI-209M which is rated slightly below the 209A

This table was published a few years back and I believe it is more reflective of the actual pressure created by various primers

That all depends on how well they fit. A Win209 for example is spotless in my Lehigh plugs and a Cheddite comes out black from blowby. I could shim the plug for Cheddites but then im stuck using the shortest primer i can find. Im still looking for Nylon PTFE shims that will work in 209 plugs. They are much harder than a rubber oring but way easier to remove than a steel shim.

****Cheddite work fine to ignite BH in the BH BREECH PLUG. 100%*****

I bought, but haven’t used the o rings.

Don’t want to introduce a variable to my deer load right now.
