I got my first flintlock and round ball deer Saturday in PA during the early muzzleloader season. I have gotten plenty with the inline and even got a few shooting Powerbelts out of my flintlock, but never with a round ball.
I used a .490 ball, .020 patch and 70 grains of Swiss out of my Lyman Deerstalker. I hit high on the shoulder at thirty yards but from being about twenty feet high in my climber the angle was fine. She went down on the spot, got up and went very slowly for 50 yards and collapsed.

Congratulations on the flintlock deer. They do seem kind of special. Nice shooting.. them roundball do the job.
