I will feel around for a proper size.  That little lever will be a problem with a ball that is too big..

The main thing is not that the ball will be to big but the lead that they use to make shot might not be pure , hence not soft enough.

I never loaded the cylinder in the gun. Way too slow, and fiddly. I'd just pop out the cylinder, and use a cylinder loader.

For CAS shooting I had to load two 1860's 6 times. The cylinder loader made is easy to do, and it easier to get a tight fit on the ball.

Pete with the loader you might be able to load balls that are too big and too hard no problem.
