In the past, I've done the antique gray barrel on a few guns. I take yarn, wrap the barrel and then spray it down with bleach so it leaves a pattern almost like damascus. Has anyone done this and then browned the barrel? Im wondering if the pattern would stay after the browning process?

Looks neat.  No idea of how it will look when browned, but I'll be watching this post for sure.

i have a friend who is one of the number one knife makers in the US, he uses mustard to get what you want. put mustard on it, leave it on for awhile, cant say how long, but he does it over and over and over until he get the nice old look your looking for. experment with mustard and see what you get.
