I'm using a Williams ghost ring for a rear sight, in the factory rear sight position on my TC Renegade. They don't make them anymore, I found one used on ebay a few years ago. They are a fairly large diameter and have a green F.O. dot on each side for lining up with a front. I hunt in timber and shots average 30-75 yards, so it works great for timbered area I hunt.

The Williams front sight that came with it was red, I believe it was around .080" in diameter, and it covered up too much target at distance. I looked all over and couldn't find a F.O. front sight any smaller, until @Hatchet Jack on here made me aware of a company called Ranger Point Precision. They make 3/8 dovetail front sights with a .040" diameter green F.O. dot (green is my preference).
I ordered one and put that in, it doesn't cover up near as much real estate at distance.
I really like the setup and will use it until my eyes say different.

They dont sell that sight but they still sell the FO ghost ring that can be put in any Williams dovetailed sights.

TC tang is on my WMC, tried a scope, didnt look right
And I tried all the others that looked right on my TC ,but decided vegetarian wasn't in my job description ! So all my hunting sidelocks are consistent They feature Leupold with the only variation is a couple sport 2x7 and 1 3x9 all the others are straight 4 power . Appearance might be important to some but 3 upright (full) freezers gets me through hard times (I have missed) on rare occasion !/Ed

I just ordered the XS and threaded aperture - I’m going to give it a try with a merit.
Got the XS low weaver and a threaded aperture. I had to do a little work (removed several thousandths off the bottom and shimmed the warne base) to get it to sit flush on the receiver of this White but it looks pretty good I think. Here it is with the Merit. The size of the Merit limits how low it will adjust. Time will tell if it will work with the front sight I plan to use or if I’d have to raise the front sight.

You are a lucky man. I have searched hi and lo for one of those adjustable aperture sights. I have yet to find one.

I just bought my third one, this one from the Optics Planet last week. You might check them as they 7 in stock at the time I bought that one. XS Sights had none available on their website.

The adjustable Merit aperture has just gone back in production per their website and you can buy them directly through them at the moment.

Thanks for your post. I wasn’t sure which length Merit to order, but in this case longer appears to be better.

There’s usually one or two on eBay at any given moment
I will check it out.
I gave up on ebay a while back. Have never had good luck on that site. Everything I have bid on goes two to three times what I would pay for it. Times when I have been too lazy to bid have gone what I was willing to pay.
I will revisit.
Thank you

My rifles all have apertures. A Savage #10 on my Firehawk, T/C factory apertures on my laminated, percussion Hawken and flintlock Renegade.
I don't use " ghost ring" setups. My eyesight needs the smaller aperture. In fact, it gives a slight magnifying effect. I'm very nearly as good to 200 yards with my apertures as I am with a 4x scope.
Do I lose a little dawn/dusk time? Yes. But I don't mind it at all. Especially at dusk. Target i.d. and looking for blood, or critters, in the dark has no charms for me.

Here’s a comparison of the Ranger Point Precision (RPP) fiber optic front sight vs the Williams Western Precision fiber optic front globe.

The RPP fiber optic is advertised as .040” - which is a little misleading. The fiber optic itself is just over .040” but the flared end (aiming point) is closer to .050”. And the triangular metal post is quite thick at about .122”. It seems pretty rugged and well made.

The Williams fiber optic is about .027” and the aiming point is quite a bit finer than the RPP, at about .044”.

Here is the Ranger Point on one of my Renegades. It does not appear to be as bulky as yours. I see what you are saying about the bulk of the sight beyond the fiber optic.
I like the drop away angle of mine. I have considered filing down the metal to slim it down. I filed down the site on one of my Whites and it works great. I only see the .04 green fiber optic when I look thru the peep. I believe filing down would work even better with the angled Ranger Point sight.
