I'm just curious, has any one ever played with shooting a paper patch lead bullet over top of real black powder out of an inline? Old school long range style. What are your experiences?

I've been shooting paper patched bullets with pyrodex P since 2008.
Lewis started shooting paper patched bullets with black powder sometime after 2016.

What kinda bullets are you guys shooting, what sort of loads, what's your ranges and groups like?

Just curious. I'm more into roundball longrifles but I've always been interested in the long range muzzleloaders like the first Creedmoor matches. Had the thought they other day that an inline might be a cheap way to play with some of that stuff.

90 gr. 1 1/2 Swiss, .060 polywad, 540 gr. PP bullet. Wipe between shots. Excellent accuracy. X

For me I'm using a paper patched Lee 500S&W bullet paper patched and sized to fit my 50's.

I have two different bullets for my 45's.
An RCBS 11mm rifle bullet patched and sized to. 446
And a Accurate mold. 442 paper patched and sized to. 446

You van watch some of my video's on YouTube. All three of those bullets shoot well out to 300. The Accurate mould bullets shoot well out to 500 yards.

All three of those bullets have shot sub 1" at times. They are sub 2" all the time with peep sights.

My two trigger Renegade shooting my Lee 500S&W bullets is what I used to shoot my bull in 2020 at 248 yards.

I use the same Lee 500S&W bullet in my knight mk85.

That's 100 yards. One of these groups is at 200 yards.
Back when I set those rifles up my goal was 2" groups or less. That was achieved with each rifle often enough I was happy with them. During those load development days I had some that went sub 1". It didn't happen enough for me to call them 1" guns. The group that says paper patched minie is sub 1" but I didn't use that load. Over several times out this was the best and it was a 5 shot group. But the bullet was lighter than I really wanted. It was a solid 3" I would say.
The group that has a note 1500. If you read it was a Hornady 410 gr. It measured .402 Hornady stopped making them.

This group is interesting. There is two different groups in this paper. The top group was paper patched. The bottom group were shot no paper only greased.

Putting my LR percussion rifle loads into an in-line was quite easy..
Started playing with BH209 after and found it gave no better accuracy- only easier to use.
