My new Omega seems to like 150 grns of T7 under a 250 grn. Shockwave. I shot a couple of groups right at an inch and under. Now, how high should I sight in at a 100? I will be hunting antelope and deer and could have shots out to 200-250. I might check into a scope like the Omega but, I have a nice scope now that I'd like to use. Would sighting in 3" high at a 100 work? I figure that might get me close to dead on at 150. Thanks in advance.

In your previous post you stated you bought T7 pellets so I hope that is what you are shooting in 150gr. (3 pellets). 200 yds to 250 yds is a very long shot for a muzzleloader so you will need the extra power.

The only way to know for sure is shoot at 100 yds 3" high and see where that hits at 150,200,250 yds if you have the room at the range.

Just an FYI, the Omega and Encore have the basic same barrel, just different breech systems.

Oops! Sorry, forgot to mention that it is 150 grains of the T7 pellets. I have plenty of room where I shoot. I run my drop charts for my centerfires out to 700 yds., and then go test them. I use target turrets on my centerfires and don't have to worry about holdover. Didn't figure this would be the best way to go about muzzleloading though. I know I will have to go verify at different ranges where my gun is hitting, I was just wondering what most were doing here. Thanks.

I shoot a Omega Stainless, and I use 150gr of 777 in pellet form with a 250gr Thompson Shockwave, 777 209 primer and my rifle is sighted 2 1/4 high at 100yards, it shoots about 7-8inches low at 200. I have never shot it beyond 200. Forgot to mention that it groups sub 1inch at 100 yards consistently.............

Having bullet drop at 200 yards of 7 or 8 inches is darn good. How are your 200 yard groups??

Choc-dog

Ended up sighting mine in 3" high at a 100. It's 2 1/2" low at 200 and shoot's 3" groups at 200. Hit's 10" low at 250. Haven't shot farther yet.

That's a good sight-in distance for that load. That's almost EXACTLY what my ballistic program shows.. for a 3 inch high at 100yd zero..MV 2250fsp...dead on at 20yds and 174yds.. 2.71 inches low at 200yds and 10.8 inches low at 250yds.
