Substitute powders?

Would it be too much to put in 5 gr. of 4f in the pan and use T7 in a flintlock? JUST ASKING!

Hodgdon has instructions on T7 for flints. Its something like adding 5Grns of real BP down the barrel first then putting the rest of your T7 charge on top

5 gr. of 4f is quite a bit for the pan. It will produce quite a flash. I'm not sure if, or how well it may ignite T7. May produce a lot of hang fires. T7 and Pyrodex have higer flash points than real BP that is why it does not require special storage. BP has a flash point of around 350 degrees, whereas most of the substitute powders flash at 700 or more degrees.
