Many years ago I purchased a 50 caliber Ultimate Muzzleloader from RJ/KJ @ Ultimate Firearms in Okemos.
For many years I shot Triple7 pellets and never changed the breech plug. After seeing many great reviews regarding Blackhorn 209, I decided to switch propellants a couple years ago.
My research turned up flame cut plug concerns, so I switched to the LRMP Module System from Luke @ Arrowhead.
Needless to say, getting the original plug out was a long, white knuckled affair but it finally came out... in 3 large pieces.
To avoid this, I currently remove the plug for cleanup/maintenance every 15-20 shots. When reinstalling, I currently use Loctite LB8150 Anti-Seize compound. It works great, but is messy.
Anyone have suggestions for a cleaner alternative?
